-
Customs and currency: A visa is required for US citizens and
- may be obtained at the YAR Embassy in Washington, DC or the
- Mission to the United Nations, 2ll East 43d St., New York, NY
- 10017. Customs controls prohibit liquor. Persons arriving in the
- YAR may be required to change US $150 into Yemeni rials at the

- to meet this requirement. Hard currencies and travelers' checks
- can be exchanged at most banks in Sanaa, Taiz, and Hodeida as
- well as at the principal hotels and licensed money changers.
-

-
Climate and clothing: Climate varies according to area; cool
- and dry at high elevations (Sanaa), hot and humid along the Red

-
Telecommunications: Telephone, telegraph, and telex service
- is available.
-

-
Transportation: Sanaa has a small international airport, and

- available. Taxis can be rented by the day for regional travel,
- and all major roads are now paved.
-

-
Tourist attractions: Sanaa has several first-class hotels.
- Taiz and Hodeida have a few small hotels offering reasonable
